Text instead of graphics: Am Becken (German for: at the [wash] basin – a friendly nod to the Am Pool writers, see below) was a very emotional net literature project established in fall 1999/2000. On the technical side, I did the database, text handling functions and design of the site.
Actually, German writing group Am Pool had provided the initial inspiration. Co-students Eva Engler and Jakob Lehr – being not only graphic designers, but also interested in professional writing – decided to set up their own platform for online publishing.
Over the next 20+ months, the project flourished and some hundred articles were produced – often creating fierce arguments among the various participants.

Today, the original domain ambecken.de is disconnected. Some authors have found new platforms or moved on, while on the other hand a few have put their writing efforts to rest. The original “manuscript” was saved. Currently, it is unclear whether the full text or even selected pieces will ever be published in an other context.
